Kenn in the Gardens.

We had a reception in the Master’s Garden Friday evening. The weather was nice and the times were good. Between the High Tables, Receptions and Booze Tasting I have to believe that it was someone like me who started most of the traditions. “The House” was begun by Cardinal Wolsey and was established by King Henry VIII in 1546. Having seen both of their portraits, which hang in the Great Hall, I don’t think either of them ever missed a meal.

To counter balance all of this there is an evening song each night in the Cathedral. These services, for those who like me aren’t Anglican High Church, have scripture and lessons from the Bible. But, mostly it is about music. Wonderful choirs singing various kinds of traditional music perform each evening. There is something quite restful, after a hectic day, sitting quietly in a centuries old building complete with magnificent stained glass windows, listening music. It is quite centering.
